Daecheon in Summer

July 11, 2008

Even if the mud festival only lasts for one week during the month of July, it is worth recognizing that the rest of the summer (or the year) for that matter, will still definitely bring joy to those who come to Daecheon beach in Boryeong city. The mud festival is not all there is to the small holiday town of Boryeong.

There are hotels and restaurants to visit near the coast and if one is on a tighter budget than most, the trip to Boryeong need not be expensive. The beauty of bathing in mud while in Boryeong is that all of the activities are free of charge.

As a kid, I used to play in the mud and get myself all dirty. This angered my parents, especially my mother because she washes all my clothes. But now that I am older, I make my own decisions and I have decided to play in the mud at the Boryeong Mud Festival for the sake of fun and the benefits for the skin.

I’m sure if my mother found out that I plan to bathe in mud, she’ll think I’m nuts. But the mud in the Daecheon Beach is not dirty or filthy. In fact, it is filled with minerals that supposedly makes skin more firm and tight. For sure, the mud in the Boryeong Festival is cleaner and safer to bathe in than an ordinary puddle of mud.

Though there are disadvantages, the advantages still far outweigh the disadvantages. The various activities which all involve mud, people and lots and lots of fun can only provide the most wonderful experience for a whole lot of people who say that their time in Daecheon Beach in the Boryeong Mud Festival is one “for the books.”

To a certain extent, one disadvantage of having so many people in Daecheon beach is that the mud sometimes actually runs out, believe it or not! The trucks have to be called for again so that fresh mud from the sea can be taken once again to Boryeong and let the festival continue.

However, the advantages of being in the Mud festival far outweigh the disadvantages. There are just too many things to do while completely covered in mud that one can only enjoy the moment with family and friends and with complete strangers who are only there to have a great time.

Mud Experience Land

July 3, 2008

Mud from the sea is dug up and loaded to trucks which deliver it to the Daecheon beach. This place is called “Mud Experience Land.” Containing minerals supposedly good for the skin, the mud is used to manufacture cosmetic products which are sold at Cosmetic centers near the beach.
